About this setting
Where the header gets covered
X recommends 1500 × 500 pixels for the header. It is shown edge to edge on a computer, but phones may crop a little from the top and bottom, and your round profile picture covers part of the lower-left corner.
That leaves the centre and the right side as the safe area. A simple background, a skyline or a short line of text on the right reads better than a busy photo whose key part lands under the profile picture.
Tips
- Keep text away from the top and bottom 60 pixels, which phones may crop.
- Leave the lower-left corner plain: the profile picture covers it.
- Use PNG for headers with text or a logo to keep the edges crisp.
