About this setting
One image, two crops
Facebook shows a cover at 851 × 315 pixels on a computer, but phones show a taller, narrower section from the middle, about 640 × 360. That is why the safest cover keeps faces, logos and text in the centre, with some margin on the left and right.
On a personal profile, the round profile picture also overlaps the lower-left part of the cover. Keep that area plain so nothing important is hidden behind it.
Tips
- Put text in the middle third of the image so both the computer and phone views show it.
- Start from a photo at least 851 pixels wide, or the cover will look soft.
- A PNG keeps logos and lettering sharper than a JPG on a cover.

FAQ
Good to know
Why does my cover look cut off on my phone?
Facebook shows a narrower centre section of the cover on phones. Keep important content in the middle and leave the sides for background. Can I upload a bigger cover for sharper results?
Yes. The same shape at double the size, 1702 × 630, can look sharper on high-resolution screens. Enter it in the tool's custom size.Does the tool stretch my photo to the banner shape?
No. It cuts an 851 × 315 strip from the centre of your photo and resizes it, so nothing is distorted.
