About this setting
Where the 200 KB limit comes from
200 KB is the middle ground many sites settle on: big enough for a 1500-pixel photo with natural detail, small enough that thousands of uploads do not fill their storage. Job boards, classified-ad sites and some visa and residence-permit portals use it for photos and scanned pages.
At this size most phone photos only need a lower quality setting, not a smaller pixel size. That keeps the text of a scanned document readable, which matters when the upload is a certificate or an ID card rather than a portrait.
Tips
- For a scanned document, crop to the edges of the page so the paper, not the table under it, fills the image.
- Photograph documents in daylight: the grain of a dark photo costs many bytes.
- Check in the preview that the text is still readable before you download.

FAQ
Good to know
Can I compress a scanned document to 200 KB and keep it readable?
Usually, yes. A one-page scan as a JPG under 200 KB keeps normal text readable. If small print turns blurry, crop closer to the text so fewer pixels share the budget. My file is 2 MB. Will it really get under 200 KB?
Yes. A tenfold reduction is normal for phone photos, which are saved at a very high quality. The tool shows the final size so you can check before uploading.Should I choose JPG or WebP for 200 KB?
Choose JPG for forms and job sites, because some do not accept WebP. Where WebP is accepted, it gives better quality at the same size.
